OVERVIEW
The 'Aoi Tonbo' is a carefully made tanto, a short Japanese sword that shows the skill of samurai makers. The 12-inch blade is made from strong manganese steel and has a beautiful flame pattern, created by hand-polishing. The blade is hardened to 60 HRC, making it very tough and able to handle heavy use without losing its sharpness. The blade curves at a perfect 90 degrees, combining function and beauty.
The tanto is 55 cm long overall, with a 33 cm blade, 17 cm wide, and 3.2 cm thick. It weighs about 0.7 kg and has a strong zinc alloy tsuba. The wooden scabbard is nicely lacquered, showing the classic beauty of traditional Japanese sword-making.
